This is just a quick note about recent progress against
the points covered last month in our very detailed “most important
update ever ...”
1. We have good general
progress to report in the Shop, and technically;
This is still true. Today we had two assemblers making
things.
2. A critical coating
event is happening now on the Receiver Sheet;
This is still underway and looks better.
3. We are short of
money and have an urgent, immediate need for cash;
This is still the case, and we have undertaken
measures.
4. We are acting on a
supplemental fundraising plan based on your recommendations and
encouragement to continue.
1SHOT and R3
MONOBATH DEVELOPER sales have added some money to the fund. They also
have occupied quite a bit of time and focus, but people seem to like
them. In particular, the 1SHOT Yellow Dot Fundraiser
Edition sales have provided a solid boost.
R3 is in the process of a restock and should be ready to
ship worldwide from our new partner in Montana within the next week.

1. GENERAL
PROGRESS
The New55 Team is
pleased to report very rapid progress in getting the Shop started,
shipping methods in place and logistics underway.
This
continues. In other areas, we have made some progress understanding the
pod machine. The machine is currently broken and may need a new motor.
We definitely still need to help 20x24 get the machine to produce
pods in the size New55 PN
requires.
2. CRITICAL COATING
EVENT (still) UNDERWAY NOW FOR THE RECEIVER SHEET
Yesterday [a month ago]
we tried the very first full-length, production-ready Receiver Sheet
test coating and it ran into trouble. And while that news is
disappointing, we are working intensely to find a way to get our layers
down onto the paper successfully.
Over the last four weeks we have improved the coating
process and are moving toward a final coat this week.
3. SHORTAGE OF MONEY.
WE NEED TO GET MORE CASH SOON. AND THERE IS A PLAN
... so we brought the problem of cash shortage to you
and asked for your recommendations.
4. SUPPLEMENTAL
FUNDRAISING PLAN RECOMMENDATIONS AND QUESTIONS FROM SUPPORTERS

Fundraiser Edition has sold fairly well in small quantities. Please
tell everyone you know that the price of $50 per box supports the
ongoing product development of New55 PN instant film and the $25 profit
helps the effort.
Q: Can you hold a
fundraiser?
A: No, we thought we could, but now we find that the
timing, logistics and politics of such an event are beyond our
ability.

New55 FILM's technical progress is strong, but there
have been technical setbacks that cost the project about $100,000. The
technical problems have been mostly overcome but they were more costly
than anticipated.
As always, we depend on your support as we move nearer
to production. The risks are still real, but your recommendations and
help are most welcome and very encouraging. Long live 4x5
photography and instant films!
